Definition of self-talk- Self-talk is something you do all the time when you're awake. Positive self-talk is becoming increasingly widely recognized as an effective method for boosting self-esteem and reducing negative feelings. Positive self-talk masters are regarded to be more self-assured, driven, and productive.
Negative Self Talk-
‘I don’t look good, I am never going to get a girlfriend, I’m going to end up alone’
‘This car is the trash, it can’t even cross the 70, this is why I am always far behind.’
‘I am such a loser, I can’t even get a promotion’
All these conversations in our mind are called self task. These internal beliefs and convos can form our life and play a vital role in our journey. Repeated self-talk can later become facts in someone’s mind. This way if you are continuously calling yourself a loser in your mind and beating yourself up for any reason, there is a chance that you are gonna end up being that loser. That’s how self-talk affects us.

Negative self-talk has different types such as personalizing and filtering. In personalizing you consider yourself the reason for all the bad things that are happening around you. And in Filtering, you focus on negative information instead of positive information. These patterns often leave people helpless. But with practice, they can create positive thought patterns.

‘I didn’t get the promotion, but I will try again and find out why I didn’t get the promotion’ or ‘I am going to leave this company and try in different companies who see my worth.’
‘At least, I have a car that saves me from rain, hot sunlight. What if it’s slow, I don’t mind leaving early for work or maybe I can save up for the new car’

It guides us in tackling everyday challenges.
It increases our motivation and self-confidence.
Always investigate your thoughts, and if there are any negative thoughts, take a step back and see if you can reword things. Positive self-talk does not mean getting away from reality, it is a way to find something positive when we are facing life’s ups and downs.
Other ways to achieve positive self-talk is to surround yourself with positive people, exercising, eating healthy, doing yoga, meditation, practicing gratitude, etc
